I have much to do and many things I could write about today. Let’s see, gotta go to the grocery store, send some emails, etc. I could write about how the girls almost didn’t go to school because of a mild case of hand, foot and mouth disease (checked out by the ped yesterday - […]

Speaking of baseball
October 29th, 2007 · No Comments
In case you were wondering, Albert is my main man. In part because he’s a fantastic ball player, and in large part because of this.
My second main man, Matt, new to the roster, also wears #5. Look, he’s actually smiling!
And I am quite fond of Jim too.
This is who I think of when I think […]

Edward’s team
October 29th, 2007 · 1 Comment
This time, it was my turn, although it wasn’t as bad for me, not being a life-long Rockies fan (’cause, you know, I’m older than 15). Sure I wanted my homestate team to win but I would have settled for seeing them actually play baseball. Well, last night they did, and a little bit in […]
Unexpectedly brilliant
October 28th, 2007 · No Comments
A mild day of steady rain, drizzling to downpour to light sprinkles. Then the sun breaks through on the western horizon late in the afternoon. Minutes later, we are all gathered in the yard, gazing up at this gorgeous pair of rainbows.
Today is brilliantly sunny. But no chance of rainbows, alas.

Edward is working on his Cub Scout Bear badge. Since he joined the Scouts for the first time this year, he also has to earn his Bobcat badge. That includes the basic stuff, like the Scout promise and handshake. It also now includes, somewhat disturbingly, the requirement that the Scout’s parents read and discuss with […]

Indoor recess
October 24th, 2007 · No Comments
Today it was (is) drizzling and chilly, so Edward’s school called for an indoor recess before lunch. Because I am a wonderful person, I volunteered to stay and watch over his class while the teacher ate her lunch and had a bit of a break. I had visions of spitballs whizzing into the back of my […]

I’m busy, busy this morning. It’s Monday, working on edits to a manuscript, working on photos, listening to old Kate Bush, reveling in a glorious autumn day.
These little ones are of one of the many generations of raccoons who’ve been born and reared in the eaves of our barn. Cute, ain’t they?

Sunny day, crazy night
October 20th, 2007 · No Comments
Feeling better today. That the sun is out and the day is brilliant surely has much to do with it. Dex and Edward are off for the afternoon & evening at a Cub Scout event. The girls are napping. Davey and I are hanging out, watching TV, doing laundry, just being.
Last night, the rain continued, […]

Foggy mornings
October 19th, 2007 · 1 Comment
I lacked much of anything interesting to say yesterday, and I got booted off the computer by Dex who needed to do a work thing, so I cut my losses and went to bed. This morning is foggy, verging on misty, a tad moister and chillier than the foggy mornings we’ve been having all week.
Last […]

Scuttled

Tuesday is the day I have the girls all to myself. It’s our fun day, with no other obligations. Last week, I took them spur of the moment to a small children’s museum. They loved it and I loved being able to do something different with them, something completely suited to their curious two-year old […]
