I have to leave in 16 minutes. I eyeball the clock on the monitor and quickly calculate how long I can sit here and what more I can get done before I have to dash out the door, cursing myself for not leaving three minutes earlier.
I’m greedy with my time.
I can’t help it. Minutes slip by. I want to squeeze in one more web search or email, I want to grab just one more thing from aisle two, I want to just run in the post office - it will only take a minute!
Then, inevitably, I am five minutes late.
See, now. It’s time to go. I want to write more, but for once, I will practice moderate restraint. More minutes await.
