This is a week of synchronicity. Yesterday, the kids and I went to a playground we rarely visit but enjoy. As I walked hand-in-hand with Davey into the toddler area, I noticed a boy about the same age running around. Oh yeah, he also happened to have Down syndrome. His mom spoke first, asking me how old Davey was, and from there we were off and chatting. I mentioned the town we lived in and asked her if they lived nearby. “No, we’re visiting from St Louis.” Do tell! Why, that’s none other than Dex’s hometown!
New Mom #2 and I ended up talking for a long while, then exchanged info, with promises (mine) to be in touch when we are next in St Louis. It was a great experience and New Mom #2 seemed like someone I would get along with very well if we happened to live near each other. It was funny - her son and Davey took no particular note of each other, other than to wave hello, then her boy was off and running after his friends and Davey was off to the swings.
Some days it’s a small… and interesting world!
