Yesterday, because we were at a later time slot than usual for Davey’s therapeutic riding session, I got the chance to meet a mom (& her kids) whom I wouldn’t have otherwise. I am so glad the fates conspired as they did. This mom was at the session with her middle son, who is disabled. Also along was the older brother. As we sat and waited for Davey’s session to finish, I laughed at something her older son said, then we smiled at Davey’s glee when his pony trotted.
The new mom asked me how old he was. Then she asked if he came to ride because of low tone. I said yes, he has Down syndrome. The new mom told me she had a two-month old baby with Down syndrome. “You do?” I replied, sounding a little too excited, I’m sure. We didn’t have much time to talk - Davey was done with his ride and it was her son’s turn - but I gave her my name, number, and email address. I hope she gets in touch with me.
Her new son was adorable and seemed so tiny. He will bring much joy to their family.

Yeah, I usually smile a little too big, too. I want to say, “My nephew and uncle have it, too!” Instead, I just talk and coo to the babies.
