Thanks to a trip to Costco, 25 minutes away, this morning, the girls took all-too-short naps in the car. Usually I can park the car in the driveway (well off the road and next to the kitchen door), open the windows or leave the a/c running, and let them nap while I do nutty things like eat lunch, check my email, go to the bathroom. Today, Mae woke up as soon as I put the van in park. We left Jules and the Costco haul in the van while we started eating lunch, but Edward went outside and returned with a wide-awake sister not long after.
Jules and Mae have been stuck to me all afternoon. Every small bump is an instant meltdown and a dash into my arms. Every sideways look from Davey is a screech. I tried to sit with them on the couch because they were not letting me do anything else, but finally had to stand up, leaving them to tumble off of me and onto the couch cushions. Jules kept climbing on me and grinding her hard head into my face, and she and Mae kept bickering over lap space until hair-pulling ensued.
They are finally in bed, almost asleep. Of course, Edward just opened the bedroom door and said, loudly and in a prize-winning whine, “Where - are - my - LEGO INSTRUCTIONS?”
Is it time for bed yet?
