The things you see ’round these parts.
New Englanders love their Dunkins. I think it is in the books of every town’s bylaws that a Dunkins is mandated: 1 per every 5000 residents. The donuts are fab (from what I recall, pre-celiac diagnosis and from the rapture on my kids’ faces when they bite into one) but it’s really all about the coffee. Cheap, hot, fast, available every half mile. New England, after all, is as much about thrift and the hard-working average joe as much as it is about Martha’s Vineyard and elite prep-schools. Dunkins = wicked pissah.
** For those of you from other parts, remember that “regular coffee” comes with cream and sugar. How many times did I curse the DD staff for putting sugar in my “regular coffee with cream” before it dawned on me.
