ready for prying eyes

April 28th, 2008 · No Comments

Tomorrow a realtor is coming by to see our place in anticipation of listing. We may or may not list with this person - we still have a few finishing touches to do on the house and are likely a couple of weeks away from being ready to list - but I need to know how much we could list for and what else might need to be done. And I realized today that I also needed to have a deadline. Knowing the realtor is coming forced me to deal with all the crappy odds and ends I was doing my best to avoid. You know, the small but stubborn pile of Eddies stuff that needed a home, the fragile things from my desk I needed to pack, the kitchen floor that needed to be mopped before it up and crawled away.

I can’t stop looking in all of the rooms. Everything looks so good. Clean, orderly, everything in its place. I am impressed.

We had a realtor, a different one, give us the once-over a couple of years ago. The house and the real estate market have changed since then, moving in opposite directions, so it will be interesting to hear the new price estimate. I have been studying the market and I have an idea, but it’s hard to do comparables on a 150-year old farmhouse. There just aren’t 10 others in the neighborhood to compare ours to.

I just hope… I just hope we can sell quickly. Relatively quickly. Less than six months? (cringe)(shhhhhh)(less than fu.. o.. rrr?)(sshhhhh)
