Yesterday my neighbor called me with a request for her college sophomore daughter. If it wasn’t too much trouble, could K. please have one of our Obama/Biden yard signs?
I had two in my yard and had just taken them down and put them in the shed for safe-keeping. I was intending to keep them for posterity (and pride and glee).
But this was the young woman’s first time voting and she hoped to score a sign to display with pride in her dorm room, and so I handed it over gladly. After all, who better to have one of my signs. She will remember this election, the power of her community and youth and vote for the rest of her life. Years from now she will tell her children stories of the massive student celebrations in the streets of Boston.
Talk about posterity!
