Wraslin’ Time (and a little bit of dancing)

April 15th, 2007 · No Comments

Tonight was family movie night. We managed to start our feature presentation of “Happy Feet” before 7pm. Edward requested popcorn (which, come to think of it, was his dinner). Whether it was the singing, boogying penguins or the super-charged kernals of popping goodness, the kids were all giggly and wiggly. The girls were dancing around, laughing and falling down. Edward was spinning around on the floor - and as you picture this, you must know that Eddie has loooong legs so I had to keep nagging him to watch out for his sisters, who are quick but light and would travel far if propelled by a wayward boy-foot flail. Of course, Davey was thrilled. He snarfed down his popcorn - an all-time favorite - and joined in the fray. The kid loves to wrastle his big brother. They like to square off and grapple, usually ending with Davey pusing Edward backwards, the two of them laughing like crazy. Davey is even built like a wrestler, with shortish legs, slim hips, and a broad torso and shoulders. He’s like a little grinning, charging bull.

(Personal aside: wrestling always brings to mind one of my favorite writers, John Irving.)

So family movie night devolved into family wrasle-mania, with stray popcorn being crushed beneath 4 giggling, breathless kids. I could barely hear the movie above the thuds and hoots. And it was perfect.
